After having toyed with a mini-Sarod since the age of four, he started taking serious lessons from the age of seven from his father and guru Pt.Shekhar Borkar, now based in Pune... (www.shekharborkar.com)....... praashekh has played at concerts all over India and various parts of the world. He has won several awards and accolades and is a Gold medalist at the Maharashtra music competition. He had been awarded the Dattopant Deshpande trophy at Pune's Sawai Gandharva festival at the age of 12 in 2000 for being the most promising upcoming artiste of the country.. He has been honoured with the title of 'SURMANI' from the Sur singar samsad, mumbai and has also done his Masters in music(Sangeet Alankaar). if u haven't understood the name yet.. well, its the combination of his parents names... PRAgya and SHEKHar.. that gives PRAASHEKH. Besides being true to the Indian Traditional form, Praashekh also experiments with world music. He has been composing and fusing his melodies with Western and Arabic forms. He has also been inspired by the Andalusian for of rendition. Praashekh has been playing for film music and even working on music to be used for music therapy recently.

Praashekh Borkar
Praashekh, the young and talented musician from Pune, along with his younger brother Abhishek, features among the finest sarodists of the younger generation of India. Praashekh showed profound enthusiasm for this noble art from a very early age.
